Heather Cole

Amy Gill spotted pictures of the former Moolah Temple in a book for sale at a fair shortly after she and husband and business partner, Amrit Gill, purchased the building in 2002.

Carolyn Toft, president of the Landmarks Association of St. Louis, was selling "St. Louis: Landmarks & Historic Districts," written by Toft with Lynn Josse. She told Amy Gill that the long-vacant Moolah was in danger of being demolished. Gill disagreed. Toft asked how she knew the building wasn't threatened.

"Because I own it," Gill told her.

What's wrong in this article?

SINCE when is the Moolah in DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS?

This article is in the current issue of STL HOME Magazine.

It is nice to see they are recognizing the Moolah and city living...

but come on, let's get the location right at least.

The MOOLAH is not remotely "downtown", it is more Central West End than even Midtown.

Things like this (and it's my issue) drive me crazy. If you are an editor you should be knowledgable about the city, geographical area, language - yadda yadda yadda. Maybe it was a "slip", but I highly doubt it. They even have the address right after it! Most "suburbanites" call all of the city "Downtown". UGH!

I think you should have posted this in the downtown development forum

"Not a Fez to be found"

I thought you were going to point out that the "title" of the article in incorrect because the red light fixtures pictured are actually giant sized upside down fez's with tassle and all.

I thought you were referring to the quote "needn't a car to be entertained", meaning this person has no clue that there are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance, even if there wasn't entertainment in the Moolah.
