Amy Gill spotted pictures of the former Moolah Temple in a book for sale at a fair shortly after she and husband and business partner, Amrit Gill, purchased the building in 2002.
Carolyn Toft, president of the Landmarks Association of St. Louis, was selling "St. Louis: Landmarks & Historic Districts," written by Toft with Lynn Josse. She told Amy Gill that the long-vacant Moolah was in danger of being demolished. Gill disagreed. Toft asked how she knew the building wasn't threatened.
"Because I own it," Gill told her.
