Annex Lofts is offering some MAJOR perks to anyone that buys a loft from them right now.

They are offering about $10,000 to each buyer that can go toward the following:

-Closing costs

-Condo fees

-Property taxes

-Upgrades

-Plasma TV's

-INTEREST RATE BUYDOWN (that is the big one. That's HUGE. If people knew what they were doing they would take this with the closing costs, condo fees, or property taxes)

-more

I saw their ad in the Riverfront Times today. Are they desperate or just trying to move the remaining lofts?

Just trying to move the last remaining few lofts.

interesting... I wonder if this is a sign of lower demand than they expected or just them trying to get it all leased...

Could be less demand, but it could also be that they want to get rid of the last few so they can close up shop and move on.

Could partially be less demand. But didn't Pyramid do something similar when they were trying to close out 2020 Washington, though? And that was when everything was still pretty hot. I think they're just trying to move them all and be done with it.

It's very common for developers to throw more in to move the last units. A little bit less common for them to advertise it like this. But besides pre-construction, the best deals are usually the last few units - the developers will almost always do more negotiating to move them. Of course since they are the last remaining units, they may also be the least desirable ones too.

It appears that a female resident was involved in a attempted mugging in the building lobby Tuesday evening. Discuss amongst yourselves…...

Wow, you didn't need to post that here. Man have known about his for a few days. I'd rather not play games with others' property values.

That sucks. Hope all is well with her. Was it in the paper?

ST. LOUIS: Woman is assaulted in loft building

12/14/2006

Police were investigating an assault Tuesday evening inside a loft building in downtown St. Louis.

Authorities said two men armed with a gun confronted a resident in the hallway of the annex building at the Terra Cotta Lofts at 1511 Locust Street. The woman screamed and fell down. One of the men kicked her and they both fled. The woman was not robbed or seriously injured.

Police said the men must have entered the secured building behind a resident. Detectives were reviewing surveillance camera tapes for leads.

Officials said they had no reports of similar incidents in the Loft District.

As much as I abhor Larry, I seriously doubt (and really hope I am correct) that these were the homeless bums who attempted this. Guns are pretty expensive, and my guess is they would not be homeless with the "100% discount item" :)

My idea on low life's like these muggers is pretty simple..... Our army needs men in War Zones to be mine removers, or to be human (if you can call them that) shields for the true soldiers and heroes protecting us.....

It was not someone from or in any way affiliated with NLEC. These guys had a door code, knew where the cameras were and moved around so that they could not be caught clearly on tape...

They waited for a victim and attacked her as she was putting her key in the door on the 6th floor...

She screamed and her neighbors heard her but did nothing to help...

Its really not a situation to joke about, it could have very easily been my wife or anyone else's loved ones...

mophipsi,

I do not doubt this was a serious situation, but we can either keep on frowning about it or find something light in comments made.

On a more serious note then. Who called the 911? Who said they moved so as not to get caught by the cameras? To me, that is disturbing, cause it seems like they planned it with inside help.

she called 911 herself when none of her neighbors would answer her calls for help...after pounding on a neighbors door, he finally answered and he let her use his phone to call 911.

Perhaps it is hard for me to find any humor in it because I know the person.

You do realize that the humor was in a play of words and NOT on her. Anything like this will scar someone.

Is there any chance they were targetting someone specific and she came by and actually saved someone else? I think she is VERY lucky they did not do anything apart from what they did.

BTW, this is an extremely isolate incident with respect to loft safety, but I REALLY hope that this enables some change in the security policy (do not know what, but something needs to be done if people can get in that easily outide of the lobby onto a specific floor. I wondr what the big cities like Chicago and NY do about this)

People can only get in easily if either someone has given them their code to the building, or they slip in behind a resident who enters before the door closes (this includes both the main entry door and the garage door). One other way might be that a resident has given the code out to a food delivery restaurant and then god knows who they might give it out to. Never do this! Or I have heard of some residents who have had parties and have given their code to all their friends. I even heard one resident posted the code down at the main door for all his guests to gain access. Are you kidding me?

Oh, another thing to be weary of is when Fed-Ex or UPS calls you and says they have a package for you. Do not automatically buzz them in. Go down and let them in yourself or if you have a security camera at the front door like we do at Moon then look on your TV screen to be sure you are letting the right person in.

I'm really glad that nothing worse happened to that girl. But people have to use good common sense and protect their code.

Good common sense things. I hope that this is turned into something positive from the viewpoint of people preventing such a thing from happenning again by taking care not to give out passwords, etc.

Scope of secuity changes when you have a collective group of people sharing a common passcode. Hard to police it. One policy may be to change the passcode once a week or month.
