According to Deb Peterson, this place will not open until May now in the Bee hat building. Does anyone know where? I heard second floor, but they are really progressing on the first floor. Any word.
Just curious, is this supposed to be at all James Joyce themed? He is my favorite writer and I would absolutely love that.

I'm looking forward to this Eddie Neil owns/owned Cafe Provencal in Kirkwood/Clayton, which is a darn good restaurant.
The area needs a great Irish pub that caters to mature adults!
Not that I still don't like McGurk's but it's overrun with 21 yr. olds and it's nearly impossible to relax and chat (i.e., public house, pub. Not dance club, not pick-up joint, not standing room only, etc...).
The Dubliner in D.C. is a great, long-standing Irish pub next to Union Station that I love. It's can get busy but they manage it very well and it doesn't seem to get crazy.

Matt I agree, eventhough I am 21, a pub is not supposed to be so loud that you cannot carry on a conversation with friends.

McGurk's used to be a lot better back when it was a little more diverse in terms of the ages of its patrons. It seemed like when I first started going there, the ages ranged from 18-60. I still love the place itself, but as the night goes on, it starts to feel more like Humphrey's.

Regular at Nicks pub since 2002.
Still like McGurks after midnight. Closest 3 am establishment outside the loop, so it gets pretty hectic thursday-saturday.

The symbol on the page is a sillhouette of James Joyce. I was hoping "the Dubliner" was a reference to the collection of the short stories. In case you all didn't know I'm a Ulysses nut.

I'm pretty sure it's a little way's off. There seems to be a lot of work still needed to be done on the interior, but it's been a couple fo days since I've been by.

I won't beat a Jimmy Joyce horse (I know this forum site is for retail, restaurant discussion), but I too am a huge Joyce fan. I first got into Ulysses at a June 16 marathon reading at Left Banke Books in 1994. A wonderful experience that had me home the next day getting the novel and reading away.
I've been out of STL for a few years, but has anyone picked up the marathon reading every year?

They've updated their website with menus, etc. Hours of Operation. Even driving directions. But no mention of when it'll be open. looks damn cool though.
