I heard that there is a developer in place for the old police station at the corner of Magnolia and Grand that is going to turn it into lofts and retail. Does anyone know anything specific? I believe it includes the building attached to it that has the horsehead above it. My guess is that it used to be the stable for the police horses.

I think Pete Rothschild owns the building and has been planning something for a while now.

Rothschild owns half the city and is always planning but is very rarely doing.

I first started reading this thread about a developer in hand for this building, and I got excited. Then I read that the developer was Rothschild, and I sat back down again. :(

I'd keep an eye on this building. I saw a bunch of contractors milling around it today. I'll bet it won't be long before they are under construction.

I agree, let's not jump to conclusions. I think it was late last summer when I noticed a construction debris dumpster out back. I don't know if there is still one there or not as I haven't driven down that part of Magnolia in a while.

The building is not owned by Rothschild, but by HLC Properties, Inc.

More about that company, including names of board members:

I don't recognize the names at all.

Is this different than the Grand Lofts/Tower Grove PLace Condos/Halliday Place Condos? If so (or even not), what's the story with these?

I've noticed a lot of activity in and around these buildings lately. It must be moving forward.

It is the same as the Grand Lofts project, or at least their are Grand Lofts signs out front of all the buildings on the corner including the former police station and stables. I live right near there on Shenandoah and have been watching it progress; it is really moving.

Wow, those prices are great for proximity to Tower Grove Park and South Grand retail/commercial.
