Penrose is a beautiful urban neighborhood in north St. Louis. Long one of north St. Louis's most structurally and economically stable neighborhoods, Penrose is seeing some rehab and new construction activity just like most neighborhoods in the city.

A noted ex-resident of Penrose is renowned millionaire attorney Richard E. Banks (seriouslegalhelp.com), who was a founding investor of The MBC Network, now Black Family Channel, with famed attorney Willie Gary, Evander Holyfield, Marlon Jackson (Michael Jackson's brother) and Cecil Fielder. Banks grew up in Penrose.

I took these pictures in Summer 2003. Despite some new businesses and a new school, the neighborhood looks pretty much the same as we approach 2005.

Wow! Great pics. Are you sure this isn't South Hampton? :D This is a great example of how the North side is forgotten. It has so much architectural integrity still intact.

I love this area. If I didn't know better, I would think that some of those pictures where of my street. Classic St. Louis. And people say the North Side is bombed out ruins. :?

I actually just drove with my dad and brother all around North City, and, I must say, I was very surprised. You hear so many stories about how bombed out North City is, and yet a drive up Riverview is almost like a drive through Sublette or even St. Louis Hills at times.

you should post these pics over at SSP, it's a nice change of pace from the usual downtown shots.
