ONSL = Old North St. Louis. It was actually a town called North St. Louis before it was swallowed up by the City proper around the Civil War. That's also a reason why there is a North Market Street. Hopefully my neighborhood will be a buzz of activity like Soulard and Lafayette Square. I wish I had a camera to take some pics of the poor mall.

Fantastic photos!

I saw on the city's web site that the city has issued RFPs for the renovation of numerous houses and new construction on vacant lots in ONSL. More good development could be on its way soon.

Do People live east of Hwy. 70 in the North Riverfront CBD? Yes, and admist boarded up houses & urban decay.

Who said ALL of the Greek Revival rowhomes from the 1840s were gone in STL?

French house in Old North St. Louis? I thought this area was settled by Germans.

Also more Old North St. Louis west of Hwy. 70.

This picture is a very common Four Family flat building for pre-1900 STL and can also be seen on Newhouse Street.

Wow great photos. I love all of the old brick facaded homes that have been rehabbed. Its beautiful. The only problem with that is that one earthquake and 90% of the homes are gone and i pray to God that doesnt happen

Great pics. ONSL is a place I haven't gotten to recently to check out the progress. It looks like a lot is going on.

It's been a while since I really explored ONSL outside of the 14th Street Mall area - are there still many vacant lots/run-down buildings, or is the redevelopment widespread these days?
