Monoply, the popular board game is being remade to catch up with current times. They are allowing people to vote to choose the landmarks that will be on the new gameboard. You can chose from landmarks in 22 U.S. cities, and St. Louis is one of them. The 3 St. Louis landmarks you can choose from are Laclede's Landing, The Loop and the Arch.

Here is the site...

Kind of funny: The picture of "Delmar Blvd." shows ... The Old Courthouse?

Wow, I don't think the Loop or the Landing have a chance. The Arch has 95% of the votes for the St. Louis Landmark.

As best I can figure - from reading the rules that the landmark with the most overall votes gets the "boardwalk" spot - the Arch is winning in that race. How great would it be for the arch to be boardwalk....

No, the Arch doesn't necessarily have the most overall votes, it just has the largest percentage of all of the St. Louis categories.

I believe that it is the city with the most overall votes gets the spot.

I looked again at the rules - The city with the most overall votes - its winning "landmark" gets broadway.

I voted a while back and looked at all of the city results. Everything was so expected and cliche.

I was thinking it would be cool to have a Monopoly game where each city got a property group and the city would decide what three streets were picked and with a photo included on the square.

For example St. Louis would have three properties...

Washington Ave.

Delmar Blvd.

South Grand Ave.

It would be a good way to promote the less touristy places in each city, and it would be kinda cool to see what all of the other cities decided to offer up.

I voted and hope that St. Louis will get a place on the board. But, to be honest, I would prefer keeping the Atlantic City place names. I wouldn't be surprised if the traditional board will remain available. But, they will call it "Monopoly Classic", sell it in a wooden box, and charge more for it. :x

I was at Borders the other day and I saw that this game is on the shelves. The St Louis Arch is PROMINENT on the front of the box. However, on the back, it didn't let you read where things were in the game. I'm curious to see how valued it is. I doubt it's Boardwalk or anything, but I hope it's up there.

The arch is just between the Mall of America and the Grand Ole Opry.

The Grand Ole Opry is legit (especially if it refers to Ryman Auditorium), but a shopping mall? How embarassing! If I was a resident of Minneapolis, I would hang my head in shame.

Fenway Park is Park Place (#2)? Maybe it's just me, but shouldn't something more iconic / grand have that spot? I dunno... the Golden Gate Bridge, Grand Canyon, etc.

Another thing that's surprising is the number of stadiums. Other than Fenway and Wrigley, none of them seem to have any historic or cultural value. What does it say about a place like Dallas, for example, when they choose a stadium to represent them--at least we had a real monument (and an architectural masterpiece, at that), and the Loop and Landing were legitimate 'culture center' choices. I would have liked to see the Cathedral-Basilica as one of our options, but I guess Hasbro didn't want to touch religion.
