Or open another location. Lafayette Square could use a sandwich shop.

We actually do deliver to Lafayette Square... We go as far south as Russell and as far east as 55/70.
Expanding any further would be tough as deliveries are already the toughest part of the biz, for us at least. Its amazing what happens when you get stuck waiting in the lobby of a dorm or a hospital for people to grab their food for 15 mins... makes a lot of people after them not too happy.
I would love to cover Shaw, but getting in and out of there is a mess if you don't know the streets well.

And I think the Loop is next on the list if/when we do expand. I think we would do pretty well with a 24/7 'U' on Delmar, huh?

So it's official... I love the U's burgers... I've been in twice this week alone. I think I might be addicted. Damn you Adam!
I had my first burger there today. Great experience. I also enjoyed the chili cheese fries.
I forgot to say when I posted that I do live on the loop. I think this place would be great there. I hope business is good.

I'm confident that the WashU crowd would love it every bit as much as SLU students like the current location!

We hit The U on Saturday before the Billikens game - the place was slammed, as were all the other restaurants in the area.
Great food, as always, and $2 Buds/$3 Schlafly - can't beat that!

For all of those that care... The U. is now delivering breakfast! Starting at 8:00am everyday, 7 days a week. Delivery area hasn't expanded though, but our times have. Thanks to everyone on here over the past two years, this was the first place that heard about our existence in the beginning, so I always like to keep updating on here (plus a little self-indulgent bump up the board list doesn't hurt either
Glad to have the forum back btw!

If you guys keep laying down that salmon pesto club, I'll keep picking it up (on ciabatta). I get visions of that sandwich and spring from my Boulevard Heights home to make the trek to Midtown to indulge. Well done sir. Oh yeah, and then the Fountain on Locust appears and it's dessert time.
This was probably the first place on the net where The U. was announced when we were opening, so I wanted to just say personally to everyone here, thanks for the last three years. As of Saturday evening, we are closed for business.
It has been a lot of fun and it is very hard to see it close, but I am very grateful for everyone's patronage since opening in April of 2008.

Sad to hear that. I always enjoyed my sandwiches from The U, and wish you best of luck in your next endeavor. The restaurant business seems damn challenging these days.
I also will miss the U. and it's delicious onion strings! Good luck in your future endeavors Kustramo.
The U was a great place for a late-night burger and nightcap; I'm sure gonna miss the bacon-blue cheese burger!
Good luck, Kustramo.
Good luck, Kustramo.
Sorry to hear about this and best of luck to Kustramo. The U was loved by many.

"The Scoop: Owner of The U comes home to Kemoll’s
It’s a family reunion at Kemoll’s. Adam Kustra, owner of the recently shuttered Midtown sandwich and burger shop, The U, has rejoined his family at the Italian restaurant located downtown on the 40th floor of the Metropolitan Square Building.
Kustra, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, will be helming the kitchen during weekday lunch service, which was recently added to the restaurant’s hours of operation. While lunch patrons at Kemoll’s can now enjoy the restaurant’s classic entrées such as Chicken Fedelinaro and Tournedos Au Poivre Vert, Kustra also plans to add specials like pizzas, fresh fish, sandwiches, entrées and handmade pastas."
