Already there....check it out. Who cares. It will most likely be one of the nicest Schnucks stores in the area and will be coveted by many. Statements of jealousy will follow statements of stereotypical ignorance. Im not being overly optimistic either, Im serious.

Anyone been down to see if anything's been going on? I hope there wasn't simply another BS ribbon cutting ceremony...

Yes, there is activity happening now within the building.

Ilike how the downtown haters on the STL today forum go back and forth between downtown being full of bums and thugs to it being a yuppie enclave.
Are these people so appalled by anything that isn't all the same?

What's really strange is when they're the same people doing it! Cardinals99 and The Artist Formerly Known as King O are the same person with two names. I know this because he sent me a "friend request" on the Post site and called me... um... bad stuff. Anyway, he signed it Cardinals99 but it was sent from the Artist account. Idiot.
Seriously, why do people register to comment only to say really horrible and false things? And why do they register MULTIPLE screennames? Do they really not have anything better to do?

I just chalk it up as insecurity due to their small wangs.

So will the name of this topic be changed now to "Culinaria?" That's what the store will be called according to today's "Downtown Buzz." The more formal name will be "Culinaria - A Schnucks Market."
stick with the Schnucks name please. makes me wonder why they aren't using their regular name...

You'd think the Schnucks family would know their hometown better than that. Everyone will call it Schnucks anyway.
I could care less what they call it... I am glad it's under construction.

The Puppies Are Yummy Store might turn me off a bit. Regardless, maybe it'll be the first instance of this new concept that they can expand into other markets and areas. I can think of a number of places that could use this type of store.
Culinaria? wow!
I wish they would stick with Schnuck's, too, but what a great thing we can add to the pile of St. Louis oddities.
"So, that's a Schnuck's, right?"
"Yes."
"But it's called Culinaria?"
"Yes."
"Is it that different than a Schnuck's?"
"Sort of."
"Isn't that confusing?"
"Yes."
"And you are okay with that?"
"Welcome to St. Louis."
I'm just glad City Grocer's is staying in some way. I love that place, they have awesome service, and great deli foods.

The new Culinaria logo is now on one of the windows at the construction site. It definitely wasn't there last weekend. The lights were on inside tonight, and it was easy to see that they're making some progress inside.
Definitely making progress, because I saw a concrete truck drive out the front door today, or rather yesterday.
The place is really tore up and progress is on!
This place is quite large.

Did my shopping at City Grocers tonight and walked over to see the construction. The construction plans were laid out near the window on Olive and I noticed the great space and layout of the store looks wonderful. Looks like escalators to the second level as well.

If Culinaria is gonna be anything like the Schnuck's at Ladue (and hopefully even better), that'd be pretty freaking awesome.
The Washington Avenue Market is coiming along nicely and should be open for business any week now. I have closed the other thread on the market located here:
http://www.urbanstl.com/viewtopic.php?t=6373
instead of merging the two... I have added this post here - the other thread didn't have much "info" on the market.
The place is a great location and the store looks incredible from the signage and logo to the interior of the store. They have A LOT of coolers and will feature much of what City Grocers does by the looks of things.
Who ever thought that downtown would get City Grocers, Schnucks Culinaria, and now Washington Avenue Market as quickly as it did.
Good news!
