From the Clayton CityViews newsletter: August 2008
"Claverach Park is close to obtaining a neighborhood designation as a National Historic District. Work has also begun to have the 7500 blocks (multi-family portion) of the Moorlands so designated, as well.
And speaking of history, have you been on a walking architectural tour of Ward II with Elsey Hamilton, preservationist for St. Louis County? Elsey led a fascinating tour of Claverach Park and the Moorlands in early June. There are architectural features of homes you may not have noticed before. Watch the Parks and Recreation brochure for a tour of your favorite neighborhood."
This is exciting news for residents of the Moorlands (I think). Can someone out there help me to understand what exactly the pros and cons of this nomination would be? And if you haven't driven through our neighborhood before, you should check us out. The architecture of our housing stock is some of the best in the region!
Here is a LINK to a list of National Historic Districts in St. Louis City. Maybe some of the residents from these neighborhoods can share their experience, if any.
