The results seem pretty positive.

I especially like this comment:
Downtown has improved vastly in the 6 years I've been here. It still has a long way to go. More emphasis should be made on preserving our architectural heritage instead of tearing it down for surface parking or garages.
Does someone on urbanstl work downtown?

The office worker density map is interesting. The area around Tucker is particularly sparse, but projects like The 411 will certainly help that.

Apparently the Gap is considered high end shopping.

Someone said there needed to be a workout faciility. Maybe Fitness Factory and the Y just need better marketing.

Did you see how few people use Gateway Mall?

But that'll change when it becomes a sculpture garden. Promise.

And Old Navy.

I will say that I agree with that person's general point - it would be good to have some national retailers in addition to the boutique shops. Same with restaurants - I'm surprised that we don't have a McDonald's, Taco Bell, etc.

It's amazing how many people request things that we already have downtown. One person requested a park where they can have picnics...um hello?

I lost it when someone said they wanted more upscale shopping options like gap/old navy/ and a cigar shop.

Of all the "greenspace" downtown, I can not think of one area where I'd want to have a picnic. Homeless park (across from Soldier's) is probably the best.

The Arch grounds are a good spot.

How many confused the Gateway Mall with St. Louis Centre?

I'd like to see an H&M or Urban Outfitters downtown. When I lived in DC, the introduction of these retailers into the Gallery Place neighborhood helped to revitalize it. I also agree that we are lacking in gyms/fitness centers.

Is the Macy's in downtown not upscale enough?

I work downtown, the one thing that downtown needs is simply more people. We need more anchor office tenants to create density. Stores, restaurants, and amenities will follow...

The selection there is terrible and not even comparable to what they have in the county. Well, as far as men's clothing goes.

Exactly. We need to fill the buildings that are already here and start to fill in the vacant lots with new construction. The lofts that have been built in recent years are great for the nighttime population, but we need a stronger daytime population as well.
