I'm relocating back to STL next weekend, and should end up in Soulard shortly after. I'll be working over in O'Fallon, IL.



I'm seeing alot of Red Brick Management listings on Craigslist. What's their deal? Reputable?



I lived on DeMenil then Wyoming prior to moving to Boston, and am familiar with the area in general...er...at least I was...7 years ago.



Anyways, they seem to have a lock on the area, and I'll need a place fast. I'll drive around, and check the paper once I'm physically there...but in the mean time, this is all I have to go off of. PLUS they allow dogs, which is a must for me.



Any other leads would be great!

It goes unit by unit with them. If the unit is in good condition currently, that's as good as it's going to get.

And if it's not?

I lived in a Red Brick apartment when I first moved to Soulard. It was a decent place for a decent price.



Red Brick has a lot of the rentals in the area and they are the only one in the area I found that post their properties on a website to facilitate looking from out of town.



BSB Development is another renter in the area that you should give a call to and look at when you get to town. 314-776-1811

when I was looking for rental property in Soulard I found BSB to be much more helpful than Red Brick. I didn't wind up renting from them, but I would still recommend them.

I've been seeing a bit of BSB as well, so they're an option.



Once I'm back, the RFT will be one of the first things I grab. I don't want to be on my brothers couch for more than a week!

How's the Soulard area these days. Particularily right around the brewery?

i've lived in 2 redbrick properties. i left the 1st because they raised my rent $50 every year. but ive had no problems with maintenance requests, or the like. got a new dishwasher, free touch-up paint (5 gallons!), furnace repair, with zero issues. but they do operate with a bare-bones staff, and are basically reactionary. but i think i prefer it that way, they're the landlord, not my mother. and at $590 in the heart of soulard i can't complain.



plus, if you have to look in a hurry, they have "open-house" days where all the available units are unlocked, easier than coordinating with a bunch of different owners.

Soulard's great. The neighborhood is thriving.



A friend of mine lived at Sidney and 12th (just a couple of blocks from the brewery). It was far enough away from most of the bars and restaurants that noise wasn't an issue, but close enough for an easy walk (and Soulard is one of the best, most interesting walking neighborhoods, IMO). And Vincent's Market is a great neighborhood grocery.



I think you'll find that the rents have gone up quite a bit in the last seven years, though.

I looked at several of their places a few years ago before I settled on an apartment rented by Senate Square (over on Sidney/Senate/Congress in Benton Park -- right by SS Cafe).



The newly done places were nice. The old ones were really bad.



And avoid Senate Square, by the way.
