Plushies. They are Plushies.

And then there are the baby fetish people. I know of someone who made NICE money sewing adult sized baby clothes for these fetishists.

The people who dress in costumes are Furries. Plushies are people who have 'relations' with stuffed animals.

Well they aren't really straight "friendly." In the manner that I felt as if I was a piece of meat amongst many great white sharks. If you are a guy then it's assumed you are there for a reason. I'll tell you what, I can empathize with how women may feel in certain circumstances. Yet it was a very fun experience. I do enjoy different situations.

I agree that it's probably the most straight 'unfriendly' gay bar. In my experience it's not that gay bars aren't straight friendly, it's rather they don't appreciate the groups of individuals that go to a gay bar to make a mockery or novelty out of 'gay culture' (as much as I despise that term).

I loved Freddies. I wonder what Just Johns is like. I know it just opened but I don't know when I am going to go there.

I would do a cab between the strip and Complex. Some of the time I end up shuttling friends between the 2. Also if you go a Friday stay on the strip. I find myself quite bored with the slow Fridays at Complex.

JJs at one point I was told didn't allow girls, then it was they could come it but couldn't go back to the dance floor. Now I know they are free to go anywhere. Most of the time if I am with my wonderful straight friends we just stick to the bars up on Manchester or the Complex.

I have walked to The Strip before from the CWE, its not a bad walk at all and the neighborhood is not bad. Cross over at the walking bridge behind the med center and walk down streets like arco or gibson. there is a apartment building on i think boyle that is kinda scary but hell its nothing that i havent seen before. I would just ride with a friend or cab it as cabs here are very cheap. Also go to Loading Zone on euclid it tends to pull in a better group of boys. As does Amp on Manchester. they both are nicer and cleaner gay bars and have a nicer mix of guys. I go out to both and the others time to time so feel free to email me if you would like to join. ritchlassiter@hotmail.com. LZ is walkable from the cwe station as it is at Euclid and Laclede. Their busy nights are tuesdays and friday and saturday. But tuesdays are very very busy. wedesday can be busy to sometimes.

ok, you made a distinction that I didn't know about. I honestly thought they were one and the same.

I live between the CWE and Manchester and I wouldn't recommend walking it at night.

If you do, stick to the busier streets.

One of the things I've never understood about this "everywhere's dangerous to walk at night" mentality is, what do people think the options are?

1) Stay at home. I guess you could do that.

OR

2) Go the same places you would have walked, but driving a $20K piece of metal around.

Can someone explain to me how, if someone with a gun shows up, you're any safer in a car? Arguably, you're a lot more worth an armed robbery than you would be walking around with $40 in your pocket. (Yes, I'm aware that you can get away faster in a car...if said maniac doesn't shoot you first).

car jacking takes a whole different level of commitment on the criminals' part than a mere mugging.

Further, a gun isn't necessary for a mugging or beat down. It usually is necessary for a car jacking.

he'd have to be a reallly good shot to shoot someone in a moving car. i know it can be done, but its honestly not that easy.

If you don't see yourself as an easier target walking by yourself down a side street than you are driving down Manchester then I can't help you.

I'm the one that walked the area at night and will continue to. But I'm not naive enough to think I wouldn't be safer in my car.

Check out the CSI episode "Fur and Loathing." It's all about a Furry convention in LV. Pretty sick stuff.

I've walked to this area at night a few times straight down Boyle. It is somewhat dark in some areas and not really pedestrian friendly but, i never felt unsafe. If more people were out walking around no one would give it a second thought.

I think some on this board need to walk the city a little more, on another thread started by the same person he was told not to walk anywhere east of Boyle, I wonder if the all the people in the "new" Gaslight area know its not safe to leave thier house. I've only lived in St louis about 8 months now but, have to agree with Throtybeard, people here are addicted to thier cars.
