I am not mad at all TGEAWADFN 8)

I just dont think categorizing all our girls and our sport as "exploiting sexuality" is fair. some of our girls dont even wear makeup and wont wear short shorts or skirts, some dont drink at all and are very straight laced. many are married with children, some are lawyers. then again, some are wildchilds. what can i say, we are a mixed bag.

but yes, it has turned into a fun thread so spank you very much.

magnatron, have your wife come out to a bout and see if thinks its something she would be into. we are opening recruitment at the end of the month i do believe :D

Seriously, take it easy on the ARRG! Its something else that makes this city worth living in (OK so they're in the county right now, meh). Take away them and several other things that give this town some zip and we might as well all be living in Peoria.

You know what the night life is like in Peoria, right? Dark. :P

*BUMP*

Our next bout is this Saturday! The theme is Gentlemen Prefer Derby featuring the Stunt Devils vs last season's champs, the M80s. (My team, the Smashinistas are hosting- I will be working the raffle table so stop by and say hi:)

At the last bout on March 22nd, the Stunts beat the Smashinistas 91 to 65, a ref broke his shoulder and we raised $451.00 for Safe Connections with our raffle. It was pretty exciting!

I have a question. Is there a sexual element to boxing? Or real wrestling? Do people jump to that conclusion in those sports? Why does sex have to be involved here? Do you expect them to dress in conservative ann taylor?

Sounds like fun. I think I might hit that up. Anyone else?

I’d say, if this forum actually made money, we could sponsor your team. Unfortunately…

Doug. Boxers and wrestlers don't use male versions of 1940's pin-up girls wearing bunny suits and fishnet stockings presenting their bottoms to advertise their bouts.

Good luck with the match Carrie!

The poster is a play on the movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. All our themes this year play into movies titles- cuz its fun. I personally am looking forward to Catty Shack. MEOW!!!

But thanks for the props. South City Shiner does our fliers this year- she's a real talent that girl and a hell of a jammer.

oh, and the fishnets actually serve a purpose believe it or dont. they protect against rink rash- a condition similar to rug burn when your skin skids across the rink on a fall. tights work too but they make you sweat more....

Just don't wear them to work in a London law-office.

I plan on going, assuming you can buy tickets at the door. I've locked away my credit cards.

Anyone else plan on going? A mini-forum meet perhaps?

as far as who is going to win- its hard to say. the M80s were last season's champs and the Stunts were in 3rd place. However, the Stunts beat us by almost 30 points last month so.... it will definitely be an interesting game!

and yes you can buy tickets at the door:)

You mean they haven't told you yet who will win? Maybe they don't have the storyline completed yet.

We have been thru this before, CS. I thought you were good at keeping up but in any event:

Rollerderby today is not the WWF style rollerderby you saw after Wresting at the Chase back in the 70s.

Come to a bout and decide for yourself if that is true or not. If its not true, we have a lot of explaining to to do to my teammate Sue She who broke her leg in 4 places at practice last Sunday. The metal rod and plate that had to be inserted into her leg were certainly not scripted.

I hope to see some of you tomorrow night:) I will be working the raffle table so stop by and say Heyyyyyyyyyyy

...and buy a raffle ticket! 100% of the proceeds go to Safe Connections-

Safe Connections is the oldest and largest locally-founded organization in St. Louis dedicated to helping domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. The professional staff and volunteers constitute an essential core of resources and support for women and families across the St. Louis metropolitan area.

- and you could win 2 tickets to an upcoming bout, a tshirt and other cool stuff. WOW!

We went to the last, um, bout? Match? Whatever it was, it was a hell of a good time. I couldn't believe how many people were there.

And how do you beat 24oz. PBRs for $5? Seriously.
